you are not alone
Inspired by The Church’s mission to “love God and neighbor,'' this ministry exists to provide for the needs of any resident in the North Shore who needs temporary help through a time of struggle. Members or our Parish Family periodically may need or want support in terms of a home visit with or with prayers or reading the Bible, Communion at home or meals. St. Eugene’s Parishioners provide such support when needed or requested. Examples include: individuals or families experiencing an illness or disability, death, family crisis, or the joy of a new baby. We provide meals, reach out to and check in with the homebound, write a card on the anniversary of a loved one’s death, and more.

Serving the Hungry
Food Pantry Ministry
St. Eugene Parish supports two local Food Pantries at St. Martin de Porres and St. Catherine of Alexandria with donations of non-perishable food items. You may bring donated food to the donation bins in the Narthex. Donated items are delivered each week by one of our generous volunteers. If you are interested in participating in this Ministry, please call the Parish Office or Mary Ann McEllistrem at mamcellistrem@yahoo.com.
sandwich saturday
Sandwich Saturday is held on the third Saturday of every month from 9:00-10:00 AM. Parishioners and friends gather to make sandwiches. These sandwiches are delivered to Just One More Ministry in Glendale. 600-1,000 sandwiches made monthly. This is a good activity for family groups and individuals. Show up any time you are available.
St. Ben’s Community Meal
For over 30 years, volunteers from St. Eugene have been feeding the hungry in downtown Milwaukee. We currently volunteer at St. Ben’s Community Meal located across from the Milwaukee County Courthouse on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Parish volunteers choose to (1) prepare a large casserole according to our recipe and deliver it to drivers in the St. Eugene parking lot, (2) prepare and drop off a large salad, or (3) donate money for fruit and beverages. Any of these volunteers can also sign up as a server. Most volunteer once every quarter, but it can be more or less frequently as preferred. To be added to our list of volunteers contact Carol Josten csjosten@aol.com.
Serving on a Committee
respect life committee
This committee supports Pro-Life causes within the parish and community. Annual activities include participation in Service Saturday, October Pro-Life month, rose sale for Mother’s Day, and an Advent collection. Watch the bulletin for the schedule of activities.
social justice and racial equity initiative
This committee invites our parishioners to learn more about racism, discuss the unconscious biases we may have and how we might change our perspective and approaches toward all God’s Children. Any program, prayer service or other event incorporates the themes of Catholic Social Teachings. Please contact Mary Ann McEllistrem at mamcellistrem@yahoo.com or the Parish Office to learn more.
twinning committee
St. Eugene has been in a Twinning Relationship with Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Nkokonjeru, Uganda for since 2002. Since 2006 we have been supporting their agriculture projects which have been very successful. In 2024, we helped with the completion of the St. Joseph's chapel in the Gamba Subparish. There are 37 subparishes that are associated with our sister parish in Nkokonjeru. In 2025 we helped purchase Bikes and Mics. Bikes for Catechists who travel many miles to these subparishes, and microphones for the St Joseph’s Chapel. For more information contact the Twinning Committee Chair, Jenny Kopetsky kopetsky@sbcglobal.net
