Stewardship Renewal - Committed to Christ
This week Fr. Jerry challenges us about giving back. Through reflection on the Gospel and a couple of stories, Fr. Jerry's homily makes you seriously consider your own generosity.
Committed to Christ offers a road map, a series of paths, a journey towards holy living and mature discipleship. It offers a vision of six expectations the Lord has of his disciples: prayer, scripture, Mass attendance, evangelization, giving and service.
You are invited to grow, reflect, and commit to a mature discipleship.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, for I was thirsty and you gave me drink.
Reflecting on the Gospel of Matthew 25:31-46, Fr. Jerry speaks about recognizing the bounty in our own lives. Challenging us by asking "Do we have what we need?" and have we given back. Fr. Jerry brings this point home with a couple of stories that will have you thinking carefully about your own generousity.
The Gospel from Matthew 25: 14-30 speaks to Stewardship directly. "Out of fear, I buried it".
The three parables in the twenty-fifth chapter of Matthew are about the end times, the end of the world, the end (intent, purpose, and upshot) of our lives. Whatever is given to us—money, talent, opportunity—is meant to bear fruit for the kingdom, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
Gospel of Matthew 22:34-40 Love the Lord, your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself. Fr. Jerry speculates whether we do a much better job of loving our neighbor than loving God. Loving God requires us to have an active and communicative relationship with our Lord and that happens through prayer.
