This year we are making some significant changes in how we make our decisions about how to allocate ourgrants to non-profit organizations. We are making these changes for two reasons:

1. We want to be as fair as possible to all organizations requesting funds.
2. We want to provide as much information as possible to our parishioners about how the money is being spent.

Please use the forms below to apply for a grant. The deadline is April 1, 2012.

Interfaith PDF Print E-mail

altIf you or someone you know really needs help to get to doctor's appointments or to shop for food, Interfaith is here to help! There is a process fro getting the help: call Anne Bina, the director, whose office is on Hampton, across from Holy Family church. Her number is 414-962-9950. She will take it from there. Shoreline's mission is to help older adults remain in their homes as long as they want to and can, with help.

If you are "hale and hearty" and have the time during the day, we are in desperate need of drivers. Again, there is a process involved. Eve Sylvester (414-352-3935) can give you information if you'd like to know more before calling Anne.

This is truly an act of mercy.

Human Concerns Overview

The Human Concerns Committee develops, oversees, and evaluates all parish ministries of justice, advocacy, outreach, and service. The sub-committees of Pastoral Care and Parish Life are also the responsibility of the Human Concerns Committee.

Below is a list of each group functioning within the committee:

  • Pastoral Care sub-committee: develops, oversees, and evaluates all parish ministries that bring pastoral service to those in need, including ministries to the homebound, hospitalized, and those in crisis situations.
  • Parish Life sub-committee: serves to assist the parish in a variety of ways regarding hospitality, funeral receptions, and social groups like Sheepshead.

Christmas Gift Program - Children in the school and religious ed. programs collect and wrap gifts for the needy and those in nursing homes.

Crisis Meals - Provide a home-cooked meal to a parish family in need.

Drivers (Church) - Provide rides to the church for the injured or elderly.

Hope House - Provide sandwiches, personal care items and toys for needy families, many of whom are single parents.

Repairers of the Breach - Provide volunteer opportunities at Milwaukee's only daytime homeless shelter and resource center.

Respect Life - Educate the parish on pro life issues and sponsor events such as the Mother's Day Rose Sale, Life Chain and Christmas Gifts for Babies.

Share Sunday - Coordinate nonperishable food collection and delivery, monthly.

Shoreline Interfaith - Coordinates a range of services for older adults. Services include escorting people to doctors' offices, shopping, advocating for seniors, telephone reassurance, visits, and providing information about other community services.

St. Ben's Meal Program - Prepare and/or serve meals to homeless and under privileged people monthly.

St. Vincent de Paul - Coordinate parish works of charity via alms collection, clothing drives, etc.

Thanksgiving Food Drive - Coordinate nonperishable food collection and delivery for the holiday.

Twinning Committee - Establish people to people relationships between the parishioners of St. Eugene and those of Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Nkokonjeru, Uganda. This includes education, prayer, letter writing between families, visitors to and from Uganda, and an annual Lenten project. Staff Liaison Fr. Paul Fliss

Wellness Board (Parish Nurses) - Provide healthy living services to parishioners; blood pressure screenings, flu shots, telephone support, visits, etc.

Work of Human Hands - Coordinate a sale during Advent of hand crafted and food products from developing regions around the world. The revenues from this sale help to improve living standards and support families through the just and direct marketing of the products.
